Boho chic is all about the fishtail braids, sandals, earthy toned flowing clothing and accessories galore but to really rock the look you have to achieve the perfect makeup too. This is a list of Boho makeup ideas and tips to give you that natural look without making your face seem dull or washed out brought to you by Makeup Ideas Mag!
1) Invisible Makeup
Rather than packing on foundation to give yourself a natural glow cleanse, tone, moisturize and exfoliate your skin on a regular basis especially if you plan on sticking with the Boho look for a while. This is really important because Boho style is all about looking natural and vibrant, having good skin will reduce the amount of makeup you will ultimately need to apply.
2) Developing a Base
Even if you do have a carefully planned cleansing routine for your face it can be hard to maintain flawless skin, so to begin your look apply the right shade of concealer to any blemishes you may have and follow this with a thin layer of foundation over your whole face. Powder foundation is a better choice for this specific look, as it will help even out your skin tone more and using a brush rather than an applicator sponge will make it appear less cakey. Checkout our post on how to apply foundation.
3) A Natural Blush
You never want to apply too much blush for this look, rather choose a neutral tone. Instead of contouring, smile naturally and apply the blush to your cheek, moving outward towards the outer corner of your eye. If however you are tanned or dark skinned you can achieve the same sun kissed look by using bronzer.
4) Easy on the Eyes
It’s very easy to go overboard with eye makeup but like everything else concerning this Boho look, minimalism is key. If you choose to use an eyeshadow, pick a shade that is similar to your skin tone that will make you look healthy as opposed to fake. While black eyeliner suits every skin tone its best avoided when trying to look Boho fabulous unless you can apply a very thin line or you could always use a dark brown liner instead which will be noticeable but in a softer way. Black mascara will still look natural while adding volume and length to your lashes and is therefore a must have for this look, if you move your wand back and forth during application your mascara wont clump or look thick.
5) The Miracle of Lip Balm
Regularly applying a lip balm will prevent chapped and dry lips, to complete your Boho chic appearance you want a naturally radiant lip without it looking too “made-up”. After you apply your sheer balm use a light gloss or lipstick that is almost identical to your natural lip color. If you combine eyeliner and a dark lipstick your face will look like you have too much makeup on, so avoid this.
When combined all these Boho makeup ideas and tips are designed to give you a completely naturalistic, feminine glow. You will become the envy of every other girl with your flawless, seemingly makeup free look. So hurry up and test these tricks for yourself to create the look that you want to match your Boho wardrobe. Checkout our great photos for Boho Chic makeup ideas below.
