Every girl loves her eyeliner and why wouldn’t she? It’s so diverse. There are so many looks that you can achieve with just a single stroke. You can make your eyes look bigger or smaller or even sexier but sometimes it can be so darn hard. If you think that it’s difficult then you just aren’t doing it right. Makeup Ideas Mag is here to give you a few tips on how to apply eyeliner makeup the right way.
In terms of eyeliner colors we ladies are spoiled for choice but only black or brown (for women with very light hair) have the ability to transform our eyes from dull and listless to mysterious and alluring. Aside from color there are also three types of eyeliner available- cream, liquid and pencil eyeliners, so which do you choose? Well, if you want a smooth thin line you definitely need to go with either a liquid liner or a cream liner but if you want to create a smoky, smudged effect then it’s a pencil liner all the way.
Also, don’t be stingy invest in a good brand because those are the ones that are the easiest to apply and the most long lasting. If you are strapped for cash however, try out a few different drugstore brands before making your choice.
Precision- Taking the Stance
One of the most important things to remember is that you should always apply your liner after your shadow but before your mascara and if you’re using a pencil liner please keep it sharpened. When applying eyeliner its all about precision, you want to position yourself in such a way that your elbow is resting against a surface (like on the tabletop).
Tilt your head back ever so slightly and using your free hand stretch the skin of your eyelid. Then take your liner in your dominant hand and draw a dotted line with your liner on your upper eyelid, as close to your lash line as possible. After that it’s simply a matter of connecting the dots in small gentle strokes rather than one fluid motion, otherwise the line could end up looking shaky.
Changing it Up
The great thing about eyeliner is that there are so many different looks that you can achieve, from simple to sassy these are a few variations that you will love to try.
· The wings- Have you ever wanted the perfect cat’s eye? Well, all it takes it the flick of your wrist. After you line your lid following the natural shape of your eye, gently flick your liner wand upwards and outwards from the corner of your eye to create the perfect wing.
· Did you know that using eyeliner on your entire waterline (the inner part of your lower lid near your eyeball) makes your eyes looks smaller but using one on only half your waterline (starting from the outer corner of your eye and stopping halfway in) makes them look wider? Try it out and see for yourself but remember to use a pencil liner for this because the liquid kinds make your eyes water and burn.
· You could use a liquid liner on your lower lid but rather than using it on your waterline use it just under your lashes as close to them as possible.
Remember that practice makes perfect and if at first you don’t succeed try and try again. The fact is you need to get comfortable with these tricks on how to apply eyeliner makeup before you can be successful. If you get to work now it won’t be long before you’re an eye-lining pro.
