Not all of us are born with long, dark, voluminous lashes that make for the perfect “come hither” look, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t cheat our way to it. Mascara is a makeup essential for every woman, it transforms our eyes, deepening and opening them up. However, if done wrong you could end up with gooey clumps of it stuck to your lashes, to avoid such a mishap follow these steps on how to apply mascara makeup the right way all brought to you by Makeup Ideas Mag!
Make the Right Choice
Mascara can darken your lashes as well as lengthen them and add volume but there are so many different brands to choose from so how do you make the right choice? Simply begin by choosing a trusted manufacturer, then it’s a toss up between volume or length or both, you decide.
You also have the choice between waterproof mascara and non-waterproof mascara. If you work with water, like a lifeguard or your job is physically strenuous where you sweat a lot, like a trainer, then you’re probably better off going with the waterproof option, to avoid raccoon eyes halfway through the day. But be warned, waterproof products are harder to get off so you want to invest in a good remover; on the plus side curling your eyelashes is easier with waterproof mascara.
In terms of color black never goes out of style because it works best to darken your lashes and make them look fuller and it opens up the eyes more as well. Brown however would be a good choice for all you light haired or very fair skinned beauties out there, because it’s not as overpowering.
Break Out Your Notepads
Not to sound like a perfectionist but there is actually a “right way” to open a mascara tube, you don’t want to overload your wand, wipe of the excess mascara on the rim of the tube before bringing it anywhere near your lashes. If you add too much it’s either going to clump or flake off when it dries.
If you have shaky hands a great way to steady them would be to lean your elbow against the mirror. Holding your position start from the root of your lashes and work your way to the tips. If you move your wrist back and forth while doing this the bristles of the wand separate your eyelashes and the mascara doesn’t get all clumpy. Do the same on your bottom lashes.
You can use an eyelash comb before the mascara dries to separate the lashes even more so your application looks natural rather than obvious, but if you wait too long before using it the dried mascara will fall off in flakes. A great way to add color to your lashes with mascara would be to hold the wand vertically and use its tip to apply a coat from the root of your lashes to their tips. Finally don’t panic if you smudge your mascara during application, dip a q-tip in some remover, place it over the smudge and rub it between your finger tips until it’s all removed.
If you’ve ever wondered why your mascara dries out so quickly it’s probably because you pump the wand. Do not do this! The in and out motion traps air inside the tube which makes it dry up. If you follow these tips on how to apply mascara makeup to the letter, you will end up with those long, full, dark eyelashes you have always longed for which look perfectly natural, so go ahead and try it.
