Prom is a big occasion and the makeup is just as important as the dress. If your makeup isn’t good then no matter how good your dress looks your makeup will ruin your look. Here at Makeup Ideas Mag we’re here to help!
Sometimes you may be tempted to match your prom makeup to your prom dress. However we suggest matching your makeup to your face, such as eye colors, skin complexion etc. This will be much better than trying to match your prom makeup to your prom dress.
Remember to find a focus or feature of your look or face you want to stand out. If you have smokey eyes then having deep luscious red lips will make your makeup look over done and exaggerated. Choose one part of your face to give a slightly stronger look compared to the other. If you have smokey eyes then having a lighter shade of lipstick or lip gloss will complement it better than something more full on.
Use a light tinted moisturizer or primer and a light foundation so that when you’re sweating on the dance floor your makeup doesn’t clump up. It will also make your focused feature stand out more. Also remember to use oil-free products.
If you are going for something bold for your lips then try something less strong for your eye makeup and vice versa. If you choose the smoky eye makeup idea then you can try two or three different shades which go together well so when you blend them they look natural. On the other hand you can use a single dark rimmed liner for something simpler.
One final note is that remember to have a small kit so that you can quickly touch up your makeup. We suggest having blotting paper, gloss or lipstick depending on which you choose, small bottle of hairspray and powder just in case you need to touch up your face. A quick mist of water spray will also keep your face looking fresh and clean.
Remember to take lots of photos of your great prom makeup!
